The Wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Full Moon, Merlot, Phantom, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Rosé.
The origin of the name Spookfontein (Ghost Fountain in English), dates back to the 1800’s and can be attributed to the small natural spring found on the farm.
Nestled below this spring, you’ll find the winery and restaurant, which were masterfully designed to fit seamlessly into the landscape. Constructed of striking brick, steel and wood, the large windows frame the vineyards, graceful mountains and the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.
The winery produces stunning, character driven wine, every aspect thereof closely monitored by wine maker Hannes Storm. The farm is planted with predominantly red varietals, but has expanded its range with the addition of a Chardonnay and a Bordeaux style white blend.
The restaurant’s menu is a take on contemporary country cooking, where rustic comfort food is given a new updated persona on the plate. When combined with the stunning view and the wine, Spookfontein becomes the farm for long languid lunches in the Hemel & Aarde Valley.
