The Wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Full Moon, Merlot, Phantom, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Rosé.
The origin of the name Spookfontein (Ghost Fountain in English), dates back to the 1800s and can be attributed to the small natural spring found on the farm.
Nestled below this spring, you’ll find the winery and restaurant, which were masterfully designed to fit seamlessly into the landscape. Constructed of striking brick, steel and wood, the large windows frame the vineyards, graceful mountains and the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.
The winery produces stunning, character driven wine, every aspect thereof closely monitored by winemakers Hannes Storm and Sol Yerden Eksteen.
Being a small cellar, we have the time to put a little extra love and devotion into our work. Come and join us for a taste of the upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.
The restaurant’s menu is a take on contemporary country cooking, where rustic comfort food is given a new updated persona on the plate. When combined with the stunning view and the wine, Spookfontein becomes the farm for long languid lunches in the Hemel & Aarde Valley.
