Welcome to the most diverse wine area in the Western Cape!

Overberg Wine

Once a hidden gem, the Overberg region has evolved into a world-class wine destination. With Creation Wines in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley just outside Hermanus being placed the number one wine destination in Africa 2022, the Overberg now has five-star wine producing status.

Here, you will discover award-winning wines from as far afield as the cool climate Elgin mountains to the maritime climate of Hermanus, and to the windswept coastal plains of Elim.

Spectacular scenery, a gentle pace of life and the warm hospitality of the local folk are unexpected bonuses, as are top quality restaurants and comfortable accommodation both on wine farms and in all the surrounding towns.

A visit to the Overberg (Overberg meaning ‘over the mountain’ – which refers to the Hottentots-Holland mountain range) is not to be done in a rush. There is so much to experience; not only the finest award-winning wines, but also festive markets and festivals, superb restaurants and bistros, and an array of interesting places to explore.

Take some time off and plan to stay overnight. Visit some of the many excellent wine farms, taste the superb wines, and enjoy doing so at a leisurely pace.

Come and restore your soul, you will leave invigorated.

Just a quick note, firstly to compliment you on a wonderful Overberg Wine guide booklet.
I have a small bnb and host mostly North European guests from Sweden, Norway, Holland, Germany and France.
The guests absolutely love the Hemel en Aarde Valley wine route and we are deeply proud of it.
Your guide is always top rank and easy to pop in a handbag or travel with.

I was surprised and delighted to find this wonderful comprehensive guide at my guesthouse in Hermanus. I didn’t know that these wine routes existed and had a great time exploring them on my holiday.
Thank you for creating this very information and easy to use guide.
