The Bosman Family have a history of choosing a different path, of challenging themselves to find a solution in the unexpected. This family have been propagating vines and making wine in the Bovlei region of Wellington for 8 generations. But true to form, they went in search of a cool climate vineyard that would complement the ‘terroir’ of the Bovlei. The Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley proved just the place.
One of the largest producers of vines to the wine and grape industry, the Bosmans were also looking for a suitable site on which to propagate. In fact, a visit to this farm is a treat all round. The Frame House is a wood structure housing the wine tasting venue belonging to the Bosman Family Vineyards, on their farm in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Hermanus. It is a refreshment station from which you can explore both nature and your place within it. Soak up the views from the veranda or for the more adventurous, amble up the mountain paths to absorb the stillness broken only by the rustling bushes and soft bird call. Experience the Koppie and Wetlands trails laid out by well-known conservationist Frank Woodvine and his team. The trails wind their way through a number of habitats from farmland to fynbos and renosterveld. A healthy and relaxing activity for the whole family to enjoy.
