SPOOKFONTEIN WINES & RESTAURANT

SPOOKFONTEIN WINES & RESTAURANT

Nestled below the fynbos-covered mountains is the winery and restaurant, which were masterfully designed to fit seamlessly into the landscape.

Constructed of striking brick, steel and timber, the large windows frame the beautiful valley below and the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.

The origin of the name Spookfontein (Ghost Fountain) dates back to the 1800s and can be attributed to the small natural spring found on the farm in the mountains above the vineyards.

The winery produces stunning, character-driven wines, every aspect thereof closely monitored by viticulturist Andries Gotze and winemaker Nelis Uys. Being a small cellar, Spookfontein has the time to put a little extra love and devotion into their work. Join them at their tasting room for a taste of the superb wines the Upper Hemel-and-Aarde Valley produces.

The menu at the restaurant is a take on contemporary country cooking, where rustic comfort food is given a new updated persona on the plate. When combined with the stunning views and the wine, Spookfontein becomes the farm for long languid lunches in the Hemel-en-Aarde.

If you are looking for the most magical spot to break away there are two cottages at Spookfontein, nested between vineyard and mountain, each sleeping four people.
