Wine Route: Hemel-en-Aarde

Cap Maritime was established in 2019 after acquiring land in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, one of the most exciting places to grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in South Africa.

Cap Maritime wines are available for tasting and purchase at Wine Village, 1 Hemel-en-Aarde Road, Hermanus.

WINE VILLAGE OPENING HOURS: Monday to Friday 09h00 – 18h00; Saturday 09h00 – 17h00, and Sunday 10h00 – 15h00

Endeavouring to create wines that capture the essence of their origin, this Hemel-en-Aarde project is spearheaded by winemaker Gottfried Mocke. Following a traditional winemaking philosophy, only concrete tanks and native yeasts are used during fermentation, with élevage in Burgundian barrique and foudre.
